SHBJJ would like to thank everyone that came to the seminar. It was a great turnout and will be the last seminar in the academy before we move into our new location. That's right, if you weren't at the seminar you probably didn't here. SHBJJ will be upgrading to a new larger and better space. Keep posted with us for the opening date some time in early December.

Also, congratulations to our new Blue Belts: Theo, OX, Ferasse, Marc and Carlos

SEMINAR W/ TONY EDUARDO

Saturday, October 31 at 3pm – 5pm
150RMB for all SHBJJ students, 300RMB for all non-SHBJJ students (open to public)

Professor Tony, will be going over some of his favorite BJJ moves and will also show us some of the new things he used to win the American Nationals this month in California.

If you plan on taking private lessons it's a good opportunity to take advantage of having Tony here, i know i will be! All privates before the seminar will only be 400RMB (saving 100RMB off) to motivate students before their promotions that will be following the seminar. Don't miss this opportunity to learn from a great jiu-jitsu-technician and competitor.

CONGRATS! ! ! to Black Belt Tony Eduardo

This past week was the American National Jiu-Jitsu Championships where our black-belt Tony Eduardo (Gracie Florianópolis/SHBJJ) took his division in the 'medium heavy' category. Tony, put on a great show and was able to submit all four of his challengers and climbed his way to first place. Good job bro!

BRAZILIAN DAY

If you missed Brazilian Day, then take a look.
Last Sunday, SHBJJ did a demo for Brazil Day in China. If you can see youtube here is the link to the demo:

On 13 September 09, SHBJJ performed a BJJ demo for "Brazilian Day in China". Stan and Carlos did the demo while Rodrigo did the commentary in Portuguese. The demo was followed by an evening of street partying and a show by Theo on how not to pick up girls. Pictures are below and the link to the demo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xf1DsSN316Q

Stan competed in the 2009 International Masters Championships in Rio De Janerio, Brazil held on 24-26 July! He took Bronze at Purple belt under 70kg and only missed the finals by one point.

SHBJJ in Baghdad

One of our students "Louie" is currently in Baghdad with the US ARMY for a few months. Though the war is a little crazy and may have positive and negative criticism being talked about in the media, Louie was still able to bring the beauty of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to such a tragic place. He has been able to train with some of the other solders stationed there and was even able to meet Iraq's #3 wrestler (pictures below). The Iraq wrestler is currently training in Iran, but told Louie he was very interested in training BJJ.

Maybe next time we see Louie he can bring the Iraq wrestling champ with him to meet the SHBJJ family.

Take care over there (in Baghdad) and find peace in BJJ.
