Classes will start up on Jan. 2nd, following the posted schedule. We apologize for any inconvenience for students wanting to train. So, please take advantage of this weeks vacation and drink some eggnog and eat a lot of junk food. This is the "only" week of the year SHBJJ is closed. So, get your rest now because it's not going to be another year till we vacation again...ha ha!

These SHBJJ teammates competed in Tokyo Japan last weekend. Everyone fought well, however Ethan Day was the only one to place. Ethan took home a 3rd place metal in the Brown Belt division. Good job!

Also, all the SHBJJ guys that went to Tokyo would like to give a BIG THANKS! to our friend "Brad Ku". Brad, really went out of his way to help us get around Tokyo and showed us how great of a city Tokyo is. Thanks so much Brad! You always have a free place to stay and train in Shanghai China.

GOOD LUCK TEAM SHBJJ!

This weekend a few of our guys (Tony Edwardo, Ryan "Johnnie" Melchiano, "Beggar" Rob, Lee "Crocop" Brown and Kenneth Yeglins) will be going to Thailand for the "BJJ Grappling Open" in Bangkok. SHBJJ would like to wish them all good luck and safe travels.
Also, SHBJJ would like to thank our new instructor Ethan Day, for helping us this last week. Ethan, is a A.T.T. four stripe Brown Belt from KC. He will be helping us teach at SHBJJ for the next 6 to 12 months.

NEW SHBJJ TEAM KIMONOS

Our new team gis have just arrived. We have sizes A1 to A4. All gis are make with a high quality pre-shrunk fabric with added accessories such as: a hygienic lapel made of rubber that provides lightness and faster drying time, SHBJJ team logo tape inside sleeves and pants, team patch next to lapel and on both sides of pants and a large team/logo patch on back. If you would like a team gi contact Ryan ( 1502 1135 476 ) or Stan ( 1370 1633 802 ) or stop over the academy and pick one up.

Congratulations to our new blue belts Eddie, Liu Feng and Mans!! They were graduated to blue belt on the 24th of May by Tony. Eddie and Liu have been training consistently for 2 years and have shown dedication on the mat. Mans' mat skills speaks for itself given his 20+ years of competitive judo! Good job guys and keep training hard!

May 1st

Well done to the SHBJJ competition team who traveled to Hong Kong to compete in Copa De HK II at the end of April. This was the first time the team traveled to compete, there were some tough fights but everyone hung in there and did well. The results were: Rob (Gold - under 70Kg white belt), Ryan (Gold - under 88.3kg blue belt), Dimitris (2 Golds no-gi at weight and absolute and 2 Silvers with gi at weight and absolute - purple belt), Oli (3 rd place under 82.3kg white belt) and Stan (Gold - under 70kg blue belt masters). Tony also put up an entertaining fight against the world renowned Eduardo Telles in the Black Belt Absolute tournament. Also, a big thank you to Jamison who really helped the team with his tremendous support from the sidelines.
